For a moment, the entire world will be watching in anticipation. With almost three hours of plot, Singh Is King is an epic saga that recounts the life of Prithvi Singh, a young prince who must compete with his cousin to become king. Along with his mentor and trusted friend Jugnu, Prithvi must discover the truth behind why someone seeks to use him for their own agenda. What remains certain though is that he has never seen anything quite like this before... Singh Is King was released on 16 September 2012. The film had an all star cast with Sachin Khedekar, Raj Babbar, Akshay Kumar, Ileana D'Cruz, Sapna Pabbi and Kay Kay Menon. Raj Babbar plays the role of Prithvi Singh Singh who is the younger brother of Jugnu Singh. He is a little brat who wants to become king of Punjab. The role is similar to his character in Bollywood movie "Hum Saath Saath Hain". Raj Babbar's character was inspired by the youngest son of Maharaja Ranjit Singh also known as Zalim Singh. The film was released on 16 September 2012. This movie released on same day as Ajay Devgan's film "Son of Sardaar".

The soundtrack for "Singh is King" was composed by Salim-Sulaiman, with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar. All the songs were sung and composed by Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant. It was produced (2004) and (2012) by Emmay Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The soundtrack received positive reviews and the songs were very popular. The film's soundtrack was a critical and commercial success with all songs becoming chartbusters.The film won three awards at the Filmfare Awards South 2013, including the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director (Salim-Sulaiman). Salim-Sulaiman also won two awards as Best Background Score (2000) and as Best Lyrics (2000) for "Dil Ke Jharoke".

The film was released on DVD by Emmay Entertainment Pvt Ltd in December 2012. It was released with English subtitles on 14 December 2012 at Lahore, Pakistan. The DVD was made available by Fun Cinemas Pvt Ltd. The DVD was released in Blu-ray Disc format in May 2013 by Fun Cinemas Pvt Ltd.

"Singh Is King" was the highest budget film in the history of Punjabi cinema and its estimated budget was INR100 million (US$1.9 million).The film received mixed reviews. It holds a score of 4 stars out of 10 on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes. Famous critic Taran Adarsh said ""Singh Is King" has good production values, but there's much that can be done to elevate it." According to Box Office India, the movie showcased the economic condition in Punjab well although it didn't work well with non-Punjabi audiences.
